“The brain and the inner world” by Mark Solms & Oliver Turnbull

Did you ever wonder on wich particular trip to inner worlds you are sending your patients when taking them under GA? MAybe you don’t but your patients do! This is particularly reflected in the patients’ fear of anesthesia that surpasses their fright of being cut open, come to think of it! Anesthesiologists, I think need to develop more interest in the subjective sensations they are causing their patients by either GA or analgesia and sedation-especially with the elder generation being more and more the mainstay of our clinical work in anesthesia.
This monography by Solms and Turnbull gives an extraordinary feel of how to negotiate this inner, subjective realm of our patients personality. It’s thoroughly readable!
